1 Task 1 Stone

  • Info: A task-management system that explores the relationship between physical progress and motivation
  • Software: Numbers (iWork Suite)

This system first appeared as the result of an experiment I documented on my blog. 1 Task 1 Stone is a very simple task management system that explores human motivation as it relates to physical representation of progress. The system utilizes a standard mason jar, a To Do list, and a pile of glass stones. It has only one rule:

  • Check off something on the To Do list, put a stone in the jar.

The result, however, is far from simple: increased motivation to do small tasks, and clear feedback on progress over time. Couple this with levels marked on the side of the jar, and you have a completely analog XP system based around actual tasks.
